The holidays are on its way and all start planning for some tour. Discussion start and everyone settles down for a trek. But where to go? And how to go? These are basic questions everyone faces.
Open up the World Wide Web and you get dozens of sites giving information about treks. Which one should we believe? Well, you trust me? Then here is the answer.

{I} http://www.trekshitiz.com

kshitiz

Homepage of Kshitiz group, Mumbai.

Ins:
* Detail info about lots of trekking spots along with their history and different
ways to reach.
* Information also available in Marathi.
* Maps of forts is very special feature of this site.
* A user discussion forum is nice place to know more.
* Special section for rock climbing, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
* Forts sorted according to different categories such as district, range, difficulty
level and alphabetically.

Outs:
* Image titles are many times not matching with the image.
* Sometimes fort appearing in one list (eg Districtwise list) does not appear in another list (eg Rangewise list).

Overall Rating: 8.5/10

{II} http://deepabhi.tripod.com

deepabhi

Personal trek-page of Abhijit and Deepak.

Ins:
* Short but accurate information of some important and common trekking places.
* Few but fantastic photographs (Blame it to Abhijit’s photography J )
* Regionwise maps and also the special GPS map of Harishchandragad.
* A list of many forts in Sahyadris can be useful for further trekking on our own.

Outs:
* Very few of the forts have been covered.
* Not updated so frequently.

Overall Rating: 6/10

{III}http://trekdi.tekdi.org

trekdi

Trek’di group Pune (They call it Trek Encyclopedia).

Ins:
* Good user Interface.
* Announcements for regular treks organized by the group are posted online.
* The guys are always just a phone call away to help you.
* Tekdi Eco Portal is the best place to discuss everything about trekking.

Outs:
* Still under maintainance. So very few of the forts have been covered.
* The trek announcements are many times not updated.

Overall Rating: 4/10

IV} http://www.geocities.com/sta_pune

sta_pune

Sahyadri Treks and Adventures, Pune

Ins:
* Many little known places have been covered.
* Good user interface.

Outs:
* Very few photographs.
* Not updated for long time.
* Insufficient information.

Overall Rating: 5/10

V} http://welcome.to/chakram

chakram

Chakram Hikers, Mulund
Ins:
* Basically a site about Chakram hikers rather than general trekking.
* Regular updates about treks by the group are posted.

Outs:
* Not much information about trekking.

Overall rating : 3/10
